“ALTERDIME” is the flagship event of IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter (SBC), Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Trivandrum. AlterDime 2022 was a spectacular showcase of technology, learning, and innovation, bringing together students and tech enthusiasts from various institutes. Here, we highlight the key events that made AlterDime 2022 a memorable experience.
ALTERDIME
Technobate, a technical debate competition, set the stage for intellectual sparring. This team event saw participants engage in two challenging rounds. The first round took place online through Google Forms, and from there, four outstanding teams emerged to battle it out in the offline finals at GEC Barton Hill. With a prize pool of ₹1000, N Gowri Nandan and Adith D Jayakrishnan of team AGNI clinched the top spot, while Krishnakumar M was recognized as the best orator.
Codex, an online coding competition hosted on HackerEarth, challenged the coding prowess of 22 participants. With a set of six coding questions to be completed within a 2-hour window, the event offered a prize of ₹1000. Ullas Chandran emerged as the winner, while Cijin Joseph John secured the runner-up position.
Gamification, an offline workshop on October 16th, 2022, was a 2 hour session led by Mrs. Fincy Youseff, Vice President of Equippo. The workshop focused on the concept of gamification and its applications in the software industry. All 33 participants actively engaged in practical activities, gaining valuable insights. Positive feedback poured in after the session, affirming its quality.
The two-day Workshop on Adobe Photoshop, conducted virtually via Google Meet on October 19th and 20th, 2022, was a hit. Mr. Sai Krishnan R,Graphic Designer IEEE Travancore Hub and ISTE SC GECBH, shared his expertise, and participants found the session highly beneficial. A poster designing competition followed, with Sagar S securing the first prize and Navneeth Nair H as the runner-up.
Quizzards, an online quiz series, kept the excitement alive throughout the year, with monthly quizzes in the IEEE Computer Society SBC WhatsApp Group. The top seven participants on the leaderboard qualified for the final lap. With a challenging first round based on digital releases and a final round testing logical and coding skills, the event awarded ₹3000 to the winners: S Bhadra Devi Nair (First Prize) and Malavika M M (Runner-up).
Thus, AlterDime 2022 was a testament to the commitment to learning and innovation of IEEE Computer Society SBC, Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Trivandrum.
