ABOUT THE CHAPTER
The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society is a professional society of the IEEE that supports the development and the exchange of scientific knowledge in the fields of robotics and automation, including applied and theoretical issues and for the maintenance of high professional standards among its members, all in consonance with the Constitution and Bylaws of the IEEE and with special attention to such aims within the Field of Interest of the Society.
- Our Mission is to foster the development and facilitate the exchange of scientific and technological knowledge in Robotics and Automation that benefits members, the profession and humanity.
- Our Vision is to be the most recognized and respected global organization in Robotics and Automation.
Being the first society of IEEE to be established in GECBH, the Robotics and Automation Society has been an inspiration to the formation of the other societies. The RAS Chapter at GECBH has been successful in sharing knowledge and awareness in the field of Robotics and Automation in the college in the past years through several quality events. Notable initiatives include peer to peer mentoring sessions covering topics like image processing and IoT, contributing to the technical growth of students. In a commendable outreach effort, the RAS SBC organised the "ros.h" project, imparting fundamental robotics education to students in orphanages through hands-on experiences. Beyond these impactful initiatives, the Student Branch Chapter actively engages the community by regularly sharing simplified, yet informative, content on the latest advancements in the robotics industry. This commitment to both technical education and community outreach underscores the RAS Chapter's integral role in shaping a technology-centric environment at GECBH.
INTIATIVES
Knowbots
Knowbots, the digital initiative by the SBC, is meticulously curated to distill and present the fundamental concepts from monthly articles in the IEEE Spectrum Magazine. It primarily aims to provide invaluable insights into the field of robotics as featured in the Magazine.
This digital initiative is regularly distributed through the official Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn channels, with the core objective of enhancing the members' appreciation for the rich content found in Spectrum Magazine. It commenced its journey on May 18, 2020, and underwent a notable transformation before reemerging with an upgraded and modern template on February 17, 2021.
Robolytics
"Robolytics" is an endeavor initiated by the SBC aimed at acquainting individuals with the realm of robotics and automation. This initiative offers comprehensive insights into all facets of the field, catering to both beginners and enthusiasts. It disseminates knowledge through monthly poster releases, describing chosen topics to pique viewers' interest and provide relevant information in an approachable manner.
The SBC demonstrates a commitment to involving its audience by actively incorporating their suggestions into upcoming releases. These initiatives are systematically shared across various social media platforms, facilitating engagement with a diverse and enthusiastic audience. The overwhelmingly positive feedback received serves as a constant source of motivation, driving the SBC to consistently produce informative content and foster innovative ideas.
