The annual extravaganza known as Best Engineer 7.0, hosted by the IEEE Student Branch at Government Engineering College Barton Hill Thiruvananthapuram, was exclusively dedicated to first-year undergraduate students at the institution. It served as a rigorous testing ground, subjecting participants to a battery of assessments to evaluate their skills and quick-thinking abilities.

The event kicked off with its first round held on May 26, 2021, within the classrooms of Government Engineering College Barton Hill. During this phase, participants had the opportunity to learn more about IEEE and take an Aptitude Test, a fundamental step in the campus recruitment process. A common cutoff score was established after evaluating results from first-year students in various engineering departments, including ECE, EEE, IT, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering.

The second round of Best Engineer 7.0 involved group discussions, aiming to assess participants' reasoning abilities, teamwork, and communication skills. Only those who successfully passed the first round were eligible to participate in this stage. Participants were given challenging topics and allowed 3 minutes each to prepare, using any available resources. From this round, exceptional candidates were selected for the highly anticipated third and final round, which took place on September 14, 2021.

The third and final round consisted of HR interviews to evaluate participants' reasoning skills, leadership qualities, and professionalism. It was an intense competition, with the top four candidates going head-to-head. With an attractive prize of Rs. 10,000, this event was a showstopper.
